AUGUST 9 (ONASA-FoNet) – Serbia lost almost a third of the male population
in the fight against fascism, and today, 77 years later, paradoxically,
fascism is spreading through Serbia, the Opra Roma movement of Serbia (ORS)
said today. during the night between August 7 and 8, a billboard torn up
in memory of the victims by a group of organizations and associations was
torn down.

erected in memory of the victims by the European Roma Institute for Arts
and Culture, the Roma Education Fund and the Oprah Roma Movement Serbia,
        "That
this is not a gesture of drunken or arrogant youth, but a conscious message
to the Roma community is shown by the fact that a Celtic cross, a symbol
mostly used by neo-Nazis, is drawn on the pillar under the torn billboard,&=
quot;
emphasizes Opre Roma.
        The movement
points out that the Roma community in Serbia is "extremely upset and
concerned by this gesture" and calls on the prosecution and the Interi=
or
Ministry to find the perpetrators and punish them appropriately, and "=
publicly
announce their names as a gesture to show that fascism and neo-Nazism are
not acceptable "and that" all promoters of that ideology that
took millions of lives will be publicly marked ".
        The ORS
movement also expects a reaction from the mayor of Novi Sad, Milo=B9 Vu=E8e=
vi=E6,
regarding that "shameful and unacceptable gesture", emphasizing
that such a gesture "must not and cannot be acceptable for modern
society, especially not for the city that holds the title of European Capit=
al
of Culture". (end)
