SARAJEVO: MEETING OF MEMBERS OF BOARD OF BOTH HOUSES OF PABIH WITH SCHMIDT IN BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER

AUGUST 9 (ONASA) – A meeting of members of both houses of the BiH Parliamen=
tary
Assembly with High Representative Christian Schmidt should be held in early
September, the Cabinet of the Speaker of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly
Denis Zvizdic said.</font>
<br><font size=3D2 face=3D”Arial”>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The chairman
of the House of Peoples of the state parliament, Bakir Izetbegovi=E6, said
on Sunday that the meeting of the members of both PSBiH boards with Schmidt
was supposed to be held tomorrow, but as he said, some are on vacation,
some cannot attend, so the meeting was postponed.</font>
<br><font size=3D2 face=3D”Arial”>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The new
High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, officially
took office on 1 August.</font>
<br><font size=3D2 face=3D”Arial”>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; On May
27, the ambassadors of the member states of the Steering Board of the Peace
Implementation Council (PIC) officially appointed Schmidt as the new High
Representative in BiH. The Russian Federation did not agree with that decis=
ion.</font>
<br><font size=3D2 face=3D”Arial”>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The function
of the High Representative with the status of a diplomatic mission in Bosnia
and Herzegovina was established in accordance with the General Framework
Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Dayton Peace Agreement),
agreed on November 21, 1995 at the military base in Dayton, USA.</font>
<br><font size=3D2 face=3D”Arial”>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The OHR
has the authority to &quot;finalize&quot; the Agreement on the Civilian
