AMBASSADORS OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF PEACE IMPLEMENTATION COUNCIL REAFFIRM THEIR CONSISTENT SUPPORT TO HIGH REPRESENTATIVE SCHMIDT

SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 8 (ONASA) – In light of the recent threats, including threats of violence, directed against the High Representative Christian Schmidt, the ambassadors of the member countries of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council once again express their firm and consistent support for the High Representative and his role in Bosnia and Herzegovina in monitoring the implementation of the civil aspects of the General Framework Agreement for Peace, the OHR announced.
Attempts to jeopardize the position of the high representative contribute to divisions in society and divert attention from the essential reforms that BiH needs.
The ambassadors of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council call on the main actors throughout the country to invest energy in solving the most urgent challenges that BiH faces, namely: economic development, the fight against corruption, strengthening the rule of law and advancing BiH on its Euro-Atlantic path.
The ambassadors of the member countries of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council thank High Representative Christian Schmidt for his determination to cooperate with all actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to find stable and permanent solutions necessary for the implementation of the remaining elements of the 5+2 Program, which would lead to the successful completion of international supervision in BiH.
Ambassadors of member countries of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council are ready to provide their assistance and support local officials in their efforts to ensure a prosperous future for all citizens living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
