VOGOŠĆA MUNICIPALITY HEAD ASIM SARAJLIĆ VISITS ONASA

SARAJEVO, May 24 (ONASA) – General Manager of Independent News Agency ONASA Elvira Begović hosted today in the agency’s seat Vogošća Municipality Head Asim Sarajlić, whom she informed on the agency’s work.
General Manager Begović said that the agency’s mission is continuous contribution to development of a genuine, independent and professional reporting in a thriving, Europe oriented, multiethnic and multicultural BiH, with the aim of broadening its network outside BiH as well.
Municipality Head Sarajlić said that his previous pieces of information on ONASA agency have been “merely a faint image of what he encountered”.
“I convinced myself that this is a very young and extremely professional colle= ctive, which would be competitive at the markets of far more developed countries, than it is the case in BiH,” Sarajlić stated.
The Vogoš= ća Municipality Head added that ONASA was one of rare media houses, famous for its impartiality and objectiveness.
“ONASA preserved its professionalism, the basic function of the news business, which is truthful and timely reporting, integrating all indispensable eleme= nts. The other media, in this electoral year, are fairly directed toward s= ome of their own interests and groups, focusing on the promotion of certain ideas,” Sarajlić stated.
According to him, it is very difficult to preserve one’s professionalism nowadays in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a time when “journalism is a tool for gaining one’s aim”.
“It is difficult to remain professional in a country where almost everything is being ordered and where the freedom of journalist profession is being questioned. I believe that you are an example of how one should work and protect from that other side, which is just like a ‘loop around your neck’. Professionalism in your line of work is one of the possibilities to protect oneself from such influences,” Sarajlić pointed out.
During the visit, Sarajlić toured the agency’s premises and spoke with the agency’s employees. (the end)
