POET AJŠA ZAHIROVIĆ VISITED ONASA AGENCY
American Biographical Institute (ABI-USA) has in 2009 awarded a Gold Medal for BiH and its people to the poet and a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of BiH Ajsa Zahirovic. “I am pleased and honored by this award because I am the only one from BiH so far chosen to receive it on the basis of my achievements, as well as the worldwide presentation of BiH and its people,” said the poet Zahirovic. She pointed out that this is her 25 awards from various countries of the world, but that unfortunately she has not received any recognition from her homeland or her native Sarajevo. “This award is dear to me because it does not represent a ‘group’ but an institutional decision,” said the poet Zahirovic. A true champion does not only express his loyalty to the sentiments but he or she is open to action with the best intentions for their society and country, says Zahirovic. “Whether it is out of social, economic, scientific, educational or political reasons, every person who makes an effort towards the improvement of their own society may be considered a real champion and a contender for the gold medal.” Such individuals deserve recognition not only in their own country but worldwide.
