BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE: SIX PERSONS ARRESTED FOR WAR CRIMES IN JOŠANICA NEAR FOČA IN 1992



SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 13 (ONASA) – Acting on the order of the prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes, SIPA police officers, in the area of Sarajevo and Goražde, arrested six suspects.
The suspects are under investigation for a war crime committed in the village of Jošanica near Foča in December 1992, when 56 victims of Serbian nationality, mostly civilians, including women and children, were killed.
During the attack, houses and property were set on fire and destroyed.
The victims were found and identified after the crime.
The suspects are accused of having participated in the attack on the village and the commission of crimes against the population as commanders and members of the Višegrad Brigade of the RBiH Army.
In the case, an extensive investigation by the prosecution was carried out with several partner police agencies and institutions, as well as the collection of a large amount of evidence about the crime committed and the perpetrators.
After the criminal processing, the suspects from SIPA will be brought to the acting prosecutor, who will question the suspects and then make a decision on further activities in the case.
