AUSTRIAN EMBASSY TO BIH COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR, PETER HASSLACHER, VISITS ONASA
SARAJEVO, 22 Nov. (ONASA) – General Manager of the Independent News Agency ONASA, Ms. Elvira Begovic, received today at the seat of Agency in Sarajevo Director of the Commercial Department of the Embassy of Austria to BiH, Dr. Peter Hasslacher, informing him of the Agency.
E. Begovic says the mission of the Agency is continuous contribution to development of true, independent and professional informing in a prosperous, Europe oriented, multiethnic and multicultural BiH, aiming at spreading it network beyond BiH.
Dr. Hasslacher says the work of Agency ONASA is a unique example of objectiveness, accessibility and responsibility in journalism in these areas.
“Since we use your service on daily basis and we are familiar with your work, I may say it is about a professional agency. I have been working for quite a time in the areas of South Eastern Europe, your work is really unique, and scale of professionalism extremely high. On the other hand, the people working here are very affable and responsible at their work which is kind of prerequisite for the success you gained”, he emphasized.
Speaking about the influence of independent journalism onto a democratic society, Mr. Hasslacher said it was inevitable for any society that pursues prosperity and success.
“The lack of free thought definitely affects prosperity”, as Mr. Hasslacher put it.
Over the visit, Director of the Commercial Department of the Embassy of Austria to BiH, Peter Hasslacher, toured of Agency offices and talked with the staff. (End)
