NATO HQ COMMANDER IN BIH BRIGADIER GENERAL D. ENYEART VISITS ONASA

SARAJEVO, November 10 (ONASA) – General Manager of the Independent News Agency ONASA Elvira Begovic received today in the Agency’s seat in Sarajevo, NATO Headquarters Commander in BiH, Brigadier General David Enyeart, whom she informed about the work of this Agency.
During the conversation, general manager Begovic stressed that the mission of the Agency is a continual contribution to the development of true, independent and professional information in an advanced, European-oriented, multicultural and multiethnic BiH, with the aim of expanding its network outside of BiH too.
During the visit, NATO HQ Commander in BiH, David Enyeart, together with his associates, visited the premises and spoke with employees of the Agency.
“I’m very impressed by what I saw today during my first visit to ONASA. I saw that in ONASA there are many experienced employees. Some of them have been here from the first day, almost 17 years, and I met an employee who is engaged in journalism for 40 years . I truly appreciate the amount of experience presented here”, General Enyeart said.
General Enyeart, speaking about the importance of independent journalism in contemporary democratic society, stressed that it is very important in any society, but, unfortunately, the influence of politics on the work of the journalists is also present in BiH.
“In my opinion, an independent news agency or the media should provide information to citizens regardless of politics, even though we are witnessing that the political rhetoric often weaves in some media reports”, Enyeart said.
He said that the representatives of NATO, as well as journalists, in essence are working for the citizens of this country, and therefore the citizens deserve to receive accurate information about what is happening.
Brigadier General David Enyeart took over a duty of NATO HQ commander in Sarajevo on June 9 this year from the Brigadier General John Bullard. (End)
