EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR IN BIH VISITS NEWS AGENCY ONASA

 

SARAJEVO, November 4 (ONASA) – General director of Independent News Agency ONASA Elvira Begovic received Egyptian ambassador in BiH Ahmed El Sayed Khattab today in headquarters of the Agency in Sarajevo, with whom she talked over possibilities of cooperation with the news agency “Middle East” (MENA) from Cairo.
General director of ONASA informed Egyptian ambassador over the work of the Agency, which became recognizable in BiH, but also in broader region, by professional work and objective reporting.
“We fought our place on BiH media market and we succeeded to preserve independence, professionalism and to respect high demands of journalist ethics, during all these years,” director Begovic said, reminding how ONASA successfully exists for almost 15 years.
Egyptian ambassador how it he is extremely pleased because he was in visit to ONASA Agency, one of the main news agencies which works hard on improvement of image of BiH.
“I am impressed by the work of the Agency and I am convinced that there are a lot of ways for improvement of cooperation between these two agencies and Egypt,” ambassador Khattab said, by explaining the topic over establishing of cooperation between ONASA Agency and MENA.
Establishing of cooperation, as he emphasized, was primary topic of today’s meeting with general director of ONASA.
“MENA is one of the largest news agencies in the Middle East and we are extremely interested for daily news which are coming from this area, especially from BiH,” Egyptian ambassador said, by emphasizing how concretization of cooperation will follow within bilateral relations between Egypt and BiH, which he assessed as especially good.
Possible contract on cooperation which would be signed would not mean only exchange of news, but also other forms of cooperation, like exchange of journalists or technical cooperation.
“We need daily news from BiH, especially in this key period, when BiH makes progress on its path towards Euro-Atlantic integrations,” ambassador Khattab added, by emphasizing how Egyptian public wants to be informed over what and why is happening in BiH.
MENA Agency, with which ONASA should establish the cooperation, was founded in 1955 and it grew into one of the largest regional news agencies today, eleventh at the list of world agencies, according to UNESCO report.
It publishes its news on Arab, English and French language.
Egyptian ambassador announced today that ONASA Agency will be also visited soon by representative of Egyptian Fund for Cooperation with Balkan Countries, so possibility of technical assistance to this agency could be deliberated.
Ambassador Khattab started the duty of Egyptian ambassador in BiH in January of 2007. (the end)
