NORWEGIAN AMBASSADOR TO BIH JAN BRAATHU VISITS ONASA
SARAJEVO, August 4 (ONASA) – Independent news agency ONASA general manager Elvira Begovic met at the Agency headquarters in Sarajevo, Norwegian Ambassador to BiH Jan Braathu, and informed him on Agency’s work today.
ONASA general manager Begovic said that the Agency’s mission is a continuous contribution to development of truthful, independent and professional informing in an advanced, European oriented, multiethnic and multicultural BiH, with an aim of developing our network out of BiH borders.
Estimating ONASA Agency to be professional, Ambassador Braathu said that the Agency is a bigger organization than he thought, adding that he is quite impressed.
Ambassador Braathu said that independent media play a very important role in democratic society and represent the core of democracy. “Independent media can be unpleasant for Government officials. Serious media pose serious questions and the Governments should respond seriously too,” Norwegian Ambassador to BiH pointed out, discussing the role of independent media in democratic societies.
During his visit, Norwegian Ambassador to BiH visited the business premises of the Agency and talked with the employees. (the end)
