AMBASSADOR OF MACEDONIA IN BIH RAMI REXHEPI VISITS NEWS AGENCY ONASA
SARAJEVO, July 29 (ONASA) – General Manager of the Independent News Agency ONASA Elvira Begovic received today in the head office in Sarajevo, BiH Ambassador to Macedonia Rami Rexhepi, whom she informed about the work of the Agency.
General Manager of the Agency ONASA E. Begovic said that the mission of the Agency is continued contribution to the development of true, independent and professional information in advanced, European-oriented, multicultural and multiethnic BiH, in order to spread its network outside BiH too.
“I am pleased that I am here today,” said Ambassador Rexhepi, adding that he was fascinated and surprised by the successful work and business of the Agency.
He said he regularly reads the news ONASA Agency broadcasts, stressing that they are accurate and objective.
“ONASA is an example of the media that all the countries in the region should follow”, added Ambassador Rexhepi.
The Ambassador stressed he was fascinated by the successful work of the Agency, as well as its information “that a man can really admire.”
Speaking about the importance of an independent and objective journalism in modern democratic society, the Macedonian ambassador expressed the view that journalism is an independent pillar of a healthy society.
“We have witnessed that in all media outlets, which are dependent on the state in terms of funding, very little objectivity can be found,” said ambassador Rexhepi, adding that only in the independent, self-financing media outlets, such as the Agency ONASA, objective and accurate information can be obtained.
These media companies, added the ambassador, contribute to the development of society and the state.
“This is the only way of progress for a society and a country that has aspirations to join the big family of European Union (EU) and be listed as a country that aspires to be equal in the world,” said the Macedonian ambassador.
During the visit, the ambassador of Macedonia in BiH visited the premises of the Agency and spoke with employees.
Ambassador Rami Rexhepi assumed the position of the ambassador of Macedonia in BiH on January 4, this year from Mihail Trpkoski. (the end)
