SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 4 (ONASA) – Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić indicated in a statement that the budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2024 shows the vision of the social protection system that is being built.
The budget of the Federation of BiH for 2024 was adopted, and within it the budget of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy amounts to 471,176,000 BAM.
Delić is satisfied with the budget, and especially with the introduction of new items that will enable the co-financing of programs and projects in the social protection system.
This “implies support in work and projects that will contribute to the improvement of services in day care and service centers that organize activities and implement projects that contribute to the improvement of the everyday life of children and persons with disabilities”.
He points out that the creation of this year’s budget is an indicator of the direction in which the further development of the social protection system is planned.
This means, as he says, system synchronization, systemic solutions to support families with children through the establishment of the Family Fund, and strengthening services in the social protection system through co-financing and connecting local non-profit organizations with federal and local authorities.
This, in his opinion, would contribute to the introduction of joint and synchronized development of social services in all parts of the Federation.
“In total, the planned funds in the budget for strengthening the social protection system through the support of projects and the work of non-profit organizations and institutions of social care are planned for a total of 14.5 million BAM. This is certainly a big step forward compared to previous years, especially if we take into account that the budget planned support for strengthening the capacity of centers for social work in the amount of two million, which we have never had until now, as well as for the support of non-institutional care of people with disabilities in local communities, for which we have provided one million BAM this year,” explained Delić.
He also emphasized that significant support was provided for the projects and work of non-profit organizations.
“In addition to this million for deinstitutionalization, we have an additional four million to support non-profit organizations, and this is the first time that we can support all those organizations that run day care and service centers in local communities. Until the adoption of the law on social services, when all those who offer some of the social services to have systemically resolved co-financing, we consider this step a success and a step forward in caring for the most sensitive members of society,” the minister points out.
The budget also plans to support the operation of public kitchens, safe houses, strengthening the capacity of centers for social work, and for the construction, renovation and equipping of infrastructure and improving the quality of services in federal social care institutions.
Delić emphasized that we should not forget that for the first time in the budget, 16 million BAM is planned for the support of mothers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Otherwise, the Federal Ministry of Finance will issue orders for the payment of January benefits to civilian victims of war and non-war disability benefits by February 10.
The orders were issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the ministry announced.
“It has been a practice since October last year that we strive to ensure that all fees from our department have accurate and regular payment dates from this ministry,” the statement from that ministry states.
In the budget of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for the year 2024, a total of 272 million BAM is planned for compensation payments to non-war disabled people and civilian victims of war, of which 245 million are for non-war disabled people, and 27 million for civilian victims of war.
A little more than 23 million BAM was allocated in the budget for the January payments of these fees.
BAM 1,999,527.50 was allocated for compensation payments to civilian victims of war for the month of January 2024, while a total of BAM 21,526,117.93 was allocated for non-war disability benefits.
