SARAJEVO: MEMORY OF KILLED CHILDREN IN JUKIĆEVA STREET DURING WAR IN 1993








SARAJEVO, APRIL 27 (ONASA) – From two shells fired from an aggressor position around Sarajevo, on April 27, 1993, at 132 Jukićeva Street, three boys were killed while they were playing in front of their building: Vedran Milas (1979), Amel Terahija (1979) and Sakib Smajić ( 1977).
In permanent memory of the tragically killed boys Association of Parents of Murdered Children of the Siege of Sarajevo 1992-1995. organized the laying of flowers next to the memorial plaque erected by the Association today at that location.
On behalf of the Municipality of Centar, Adis Adilović, the head of the Department for veterans and disabled protection of the Municipality of Centar, laid flowers and paid their respects, together with the councilors of the Municipal Council of Centar.
The laying of flowers and tributes to the fallen boys were also attended by students of the VIII grade of the “Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak” Elementary School together with professor Mirza Zeković.
The president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children, Fikret Grabovica, said on that occasion that the children who came to pay their respects should always be taught that the boyhood dreams of former students of their school were cut short in this place during a carefree children’s game, and that something like this should never be forgotten.
Association of Parents of Murdered Children of the Siege of Sarajevo 1992-1995. in memory of the children of Sarajevo who were killed during the siege, 17 memorial plaques were placed in the area of Sarajevo Canton, while the City and the Government of Sarajevo Canton financed the installation of around 15 memorial plaques in honor of the innocent victims of the youngest inhabitants of Sarajevo.
