SARAJEVO, APRIL 27 (ONASA) – Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, accompanied by the dean’s office, prof. Dr. Arzije Pašalić and the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifaa Škrijelj, visited the new building of the Faculty of Health Studies in Bjelava, where he was convinced that the work on this modern building is nearing completion, and that students and teaching staff will have a place to study and work according to the highest international standards.
Since its establishment in 1973, the UNSA Faculty of Health Studies has not had its own premises.
The capital project “Reconstruction, investment maintenance and equipping of the facility of the Faculty of Health Studies UNSA” from the Sarajevo Canton Public Investment Program, and within the Project “Green Economic Development III”, project activities – Increasing energy efficiency in the public sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through increasing energy efficiency of the buildings of Pavilions VIII and IX for the needs of the Faculty of Health Studies, in cooperation with the Development Program of the United Nations in BiH, began in 2020 and is in the final phase.
It is a reconstructed, extended, energy-efficient and modern building that meets all standards, which ensured the spatial capacities of the total area of about 4,100 square meters.
As Prime Minister Uk convinced himself during the tour of the facility, the performance of the works follows the pre-arranged plan and dynamics, and work is underway on the installations inside the facility, on the heating and ventilation system, electrical installations, water and sewage installations, preparatory work on the facility’s boiler room and work on external arrangement.
The estimated value of the project, without equipment, is 6,500,000 KM, and the project was financed for the most part from the loan of the Canton of Sarajevo in the amount of 3,989,000 KM and the own funds of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Health Studies in the amount of 2,000,000 KM.
The existing investment eliminated the risk of the impossibility of carrying out the teaching and scientific research process due to the lack of own spatial capacity for the realization of theoretical and practical teaching in accordance with the existing Curricula and programs, Standards and norms for the performance of higher education activities in the area of KS and the Law on Higher Education of the Sarajevo Canton .
As was said during this visit, according to the established plan, the completion of work on the new building is expected by the end of May 2024, after which the issue of accommodation for members of the University of Sarajevo will be permanently resolved and the conditions will be created for the smooth development of the teaching process, scientific research work and development University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Health Studies.
In the academic year 2023/2024. 1,094 full-time and full-time self-financing students were enrolled at the Faculty of Health Studies in all three study cycles.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Uk stated that the example of the Faculty of Health Studies confirms the determination of the Sarajevo Canton Government to invest in the infrastructure of educational institutions – from kindergartens, schools, to colleges, so that young people and their teaching staff have the best possible environment for learning and scientific development. and research work, announced the KS Protocol and Press Service.
