US EMBASSY IN BIH: “TODAY WE REMEMBER IRREVOCABLE NIGHTMARE OF CITIZENS OF SARAJEVO”

SARAJEVO, APRIL 6 (ONASA) – The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today the anniversary of the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo, which lasted from 1992 to 1996.
“Today we remember the beginning of the siege of Sarajevo in 1992 – an unrelenting nightmare endured by the brave citizens of Sarajevo for 1,425 days. We honor and recognize the thousands of civilians – men, women and children of all ages – who were killed by VRS forces under the command of the convicted war criminals like Stanislav Galić and Dragomir Milošević in the longest siege in modern history.
As we reflect on this terrible chapter in history, may our rebuilding be dedicated to the truth, justice and reconciliation needed to create a brighter future for Bosnia and Herzegovina,” it said. (end)
