PRESIDENT OF EUROPEAN COMMISSION, URSULA VON DER LEYEN: WIND AT BACK FOR BIH

SARAJEVO, MARCH 13 (ONASA) – President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen (Von Leyen) addressed the European Parliament, where she promised to give Bosnia and Herzegovina the green light to open negotiations with the EU, which was met with thunderous applause.
Von der Leyen personally made an enormous commitment to help our country catch the European train and get the green light for the start of negotiations, and to put pressure on domestic politicians to take seriously the historic opportunity that is being offered to them and implement the necessary conditions.
And for the start of the negotiations, the EU lowered the criteria as much as possible: the adoption of only three laws was required, which BiH politicians, with a lot of pains and procrastination, adopted at the last moment, thus creating the preconditions for obtaining the green light.
Of course, the path to the EU has deep positive repercussions for BiH society.
In addition to asking us to adopt laws and standards that will make Bosnia and Herzegovina a far fairer, more functional and transparent society, he promises to create a positive atmosphere of unity around the European future, one of the rare things on which there is consensus among BiH citizens.
