GOVERNMENT OF KS ADOPTED NEW PEDAGOGICAL STANDARDS AND NORMS FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION

SARAJEVO, MARCH 12 (ONASA) – The Government of Sarajevo Canton has adopted new Pedagogical Standards and Norms for primary education and secondary education, which will be applied from the new school year 2024 – 2025.
KS Minister of Education Naida Hota-Muminović stated that they offered all partners active participation in the creation of the Standard in a timely manner, in such a way as to submit their own comments and suggestions regarding the creation of Pedagogical Standards and Norms in primary and secondary schools.
– I am pleased to point out that all interested parties exercised their right by submitting proposals and suggestions before the creation of this document, but also by participating in public consultations.
In the coming period, the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education KS will organize professional training for directors and assistant directors in order to better prepare for the organization of the new school year – Hota-Muminović pointed out.
This document defines the standards and norms of school space, equipment, teaching aids and teaching for primary and secondary schools. The focus is on raising the quality of educational work, and emphasizing the focus on the well-being of students.
The standards have revised, innovated and expanded the list of equipment, teaching aids and tools for each classroom/cabinet, and additional attention has been paid to safety in the space, the number of toilets/wet facilities/, air cleanliness, and energy efficiency/use of proven materials.
Also, the maximum weight of the school bag according to the age of the student is defined in order to protect the health of students and their proper development, and the chapter related to extracurricular and special programs in the function of the overall development of students and their skills, abilities and well-being has been fully elaborated.
Furthermore, the number of students per class was reduced in order to provide the highest possible quality of educational work, as well as the minimum number of students in combined classes; in each school, one psychologist will be hired, and a social worker at half the norm.
– I believe that we can agree that these changes are necessary for the benefit of the entire educational community.
We are also aware of the fact that these Standards and norms will show certain shortcomings during their application, which can and should be worked on in the future, but I am already sure that they have a number of advantages, and their application will enable higher quality, more efficient, more economical and a more modern educational system that keeps the student in the focus of all our efforts as an educational authority, as professionals in the system and as parents – said the Ministry, as reported by the KS Protocol and Press Service.
