MAGAZINOVIĆ: “EUROPEAN PATH IS TOOL FOR STABILITY OF REGION”



ROME, MARCH 2 (ONASA) – Chairman of the Club of Representatives of the Social Democratic Party of BiH in the Parliament of BiH, Saša Magazinović, was one of the speakers at the panel “Momentum for Democracy in the Western Balkans”, which was held at the headquarters of the Socialist Party of Italy in Rome, and was organized by the Democratic Party of Italy, the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity and the Gender Network of Southeast Europe also participated.
This event, which was attended by representatives of national parliaments and governments, the EU Parliament, the Council of Europe, political parties and non-governmental organizations, was held as part of the program of the Congress of the Party of European Socialists (PES) for the selection of candidates ahead of the European elections.
In his speech, Magazinović pointed out that, unfortunately, the instability of the Balkans is being talked about again, this time in new geopolitical circumstances. Pointing out the great Russian influence in the region, he emphasized his skepticism to believe in the European commitment and real desire to move towards the EU of those leaders in the region who support, justify or ignore Russian aggression against Ukraine at the same time as “pro-European” commitment.
Magazinović said that there are two ways of thinking and acting in Brussels – the technocratic one, which does not at all deal with the geopolitical circumstances accompanying the EU enlargement process, and the political one, which takes these circumstances into account and understands that the continuation of the EU enlargement is a great help for the stability of the Western Balkans. but also the whole of Europe.
He expressed his desire that the geopolitical view of the Western Balkans be dominant in the coming period and that this be confirmed by the decisions on expansion that should be made in the coming days. Magazinović believes that the continuation of the European path is a tool that will help the entire region enter a more peaceful period with much less instability.
Magazinović thanked the sister parties from Italy for the fact that they recognized the importance of the moment in the Western Balkans and included this very topic in the program of the Congress, as well as the leaders of PES who clearly and precisely emphasized their political support in the preparation of the Congress and the Manifesto for the European elections. accelerated expansion of the European Union to the Western Balkans.

Vice President Ivan Boban is also in the SDP BiH delegation at the PES Congress. In the coming days, in addition to participating in the regular part of the Congress, the SDP BiH delegation will have a series of meetings with representatives of sister parties, as well as representatives from the European Parliament, and representatives of national parliaments and governments.
