SABNOR BIH ON BAN OF GATHERING IN MRKONJIĆ GRAD

MOSTAR, NOVEMBER 24 (ONASA) – After the shameful decision of the police of Republika Srpska from Mrkonjić Grad to ban the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the First Session of ZAVNOBiH in that city, we express our strongest protest against it, because the stated reason about the impossibility of guaranteeing security is fabricated and is being done exclusively about a political decision.
A fortnight ago, the president of that entity hinted at this possibility, writing with incredible disparagement about this important historical event, but also insulting all those who respect the historical facts of this country. After his writing about ZAVNOBiH as parrots, followers of such politics came forward repeating the same theses. At the same time, it should be said that the one who forbids the commemoration of the anti-fascist heritage of this country has by that very act chosen the other side and placed himself on the side of fascism. No one in this country has the right to remain silent, no one has the right not to react, no one has the right not to act on such a choice. These are the moves of a scared, lost and desperate man, but they are also moves that can cause serious consequences, because he loses, and in losing, even a lost man can do a lot of evil.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, due to the growing fascism of the society in which we live, we demand from all state authorities to urgently and as soon as possible hold sessions where the fascism of Bosnian society and the state’s response to these phenomena will be discussed. We anti-fascists want an anti-fascist society of the 21st century, not a revision of history to return to the distant past. We will, also through our European and world association, seek certain measures against the holders of such policies in our country.
At the same time, we call on the citizens of this country to be encouraged and raise their voices. We are much more than them, but we are quiet. Enough is enough, we must confront them  while there is still time. Our rebellion today must have the determination of the insurgents in 1941, but also the vision of the ZAVNOBiH councilors from 1943 and 1944. In short, it’s up to us.
