ALPINIST, TRIATHLETE AND BH IRONMAN TOMISLAV CVITANUSIĆ SET OUT TO CONQUER MOUNT EVEREST

SARAJEVO, MARCH 31 (ONASA) – Tomislav Cvitanušić, alpinist, triathlete and Bosnia and Herzegovina Ironman, left Sarajevo International Airport today on his way to achieve his dream, which is to climb Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.
He has a long road of preparation behind him, and as he himself said, he had good teachers from whom he believes he picked up good knowledge.
In his rich career, Cvitanušić reached the highest peaks of four continents: North America, South America, Europe and Africa, as well as the famous Matterhorn, and Mount Everest should be a kind of crown.
“I am happy that this day has come when my adventure, perhaps one of the biggest in my life, begins. I am confident in myself and my readiness because I have really been dedicated to this goal for a long time. I will do my best to make the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina fly on top of Mount Everest and to make all the citizens of our country proud, but also to justify the trust of all those who gave it to me”, said Cvitanušić before leaving, adding that will, depending on the availability of the Internet, try to publish photos and thus bring the trip to the roof of the world closer to everyone.
Cvitanušić’s ascent to Mount Everest is planned in several stages. As he himself said, acclimatization is necessary first, which is a standard procedure that all climbers must undergo in order to acclimate their bodies to the lack of oxygen available at high altitudes. The procedure includes acclimatization by climbing gradually over a period of several weeks.
After the climber reaches base camp, the rotation process begins, which involves climbing to Camps One, Two, Three, and Four, where some rotations spend the night, and then return to base camp again.
With each rotation, he ascends to the highest altitude, until he finally starts to conquer the top, and the duration of each rotation, as well as the ascent itself, depends on both weather conditions and the readiness of the climber.
“At this moment, I can’t say how long it will take to get to the top, it all depends on the conditions on the field, the weather and some other unforeseen situations that can always happen. I am going with positive thoughts that everything will go as planned and that my Sherpa and I will manage to climb to the top of Mount Everest. My luck is that I will have an experienced Sherpa who has already climbed to the top several times, which means that he is capable and experienced. I can’t wait to meet him and for our adventure to begin”, said Cvitanušić.
The realization of Tomislav Cvitanušić’s dream to go to the top of Mount Everest was made possible by sponsors, socially responsible companies that recognized the importance of supporting brave and beautiful stories.
The most important of them are BH Telecom, Mozzart, Sarajevski kiseljak (Sara voda), Sarajevo International Airport and KM Trade.
