Interviewed by: Ines Sandžaktarević

SARAJEVO, July 17 (ONASA) – Director of the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton (KS) Nermin Drnda in an interview for the Agency ONASA talks, among other things, about the completion of the works on the First Transversal, as well as a bypass around Sarajevo and the Agreement on creation of a feasibility study on traffic calming on four locations in KS.

ONASA: When can we expect the completion of the First Transversal, which will connect the center of Sarajevo with Vogošća and how will this road function?

DRNDA: The First Transversal is an immense project in both financial and any other sense. The very length of this road, of 9.1 kilometer, speaks of the size of the project. The road is divided into four sections, which are in turn specific each on its own. Since it is not possible to completely and all at once construct this road, a partial preparation of construction of sections is approached. At this point, most likely is the realization of the second section that extends from Street Silvija Strahimira Kranjčevića to the tunnel Kobilja Glava and passes through a narrow urban area, 3.1 kilometer in length. Deadline for completion of this section is very difficult to determine because the works on realization have not yet begun.

ONASA: The Contract of completion of the Sarajevo bypass was signed in April. How long will the works take and which parts of the city will this bypass connect?

DRNDA: For this road, the works in question are implemented by the FBiH Directorate for Roads. According to the information I have, the works are being carried out according to the approved schedule. This is a very important section of the Sarajevo bypass because it will be linked and connected to the street Safeta Zajke.

ONASA: The Sarajevo bypass was originally supposed to connect with the City highway that ends in Ciglane. What is the issue?

DRNDA: The City highway has not yet been built and therefore nothing can be linked to it. Some of the sections of the existing roads coincide with the route of the future city highway, a great length does not. The design solution for the city highway has not been changed, and we do not know either what should be the issue.

ONASA: The citizens of Sarajevo have complained that there are already holes in the roundabout Otoka – Buća Potok. Will this part of the road be repaired?

DRNDA: The works were carried out with a professional and adequate supervision. If there are certain deficiencies, there is a warranty period for the execution of works and they shall be eliminated in the shortest possible time.

ONASA: Agreement on creation of a feasiblitiy study on traffic calming on four locations in KS was signed in March 2016. Which parts of the KS roads will be regulated by this Agreement, and when can we expect the completion of works?

DRNDA: The project of traffic calming on four locations in KS was completed. So far, on three locations the works on this project have been completed, and as follows: in the Street Petrakijina near the First Bosniak Grammar School, at the junction of the Rajlovačka and Reljevska streets in Reljevo, and in Paromlinska Street near the French School. In the future period, the works will be completed at the intersection of the Hrasnička road and Street Umihane Čuvidine. (end)
