AMBASSADOR OF SWISS CONFEDERATION TO BIH VISITS ONASA
SARAJEVO, 29 Nov. (ONASA) – General Manager of the Independent News Agency ONASA Elvira Begovic met today in the Agency’s seat in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to BiH, Andre Schaller, informing him on the Agency’s work.
General Manager Begovic says the Agency’s mission contributes to the development of true, independent and professional informing in a prosperous, Europe oriented, multiethnic and multicultural BiH, aiming at expending its network beyond BiH.
Over the visit, the Ambassador of Swiss Confederation toured the Agency’s premises and talked with the staff.
“I’m impressed by high scale of professionalism, extraordinary commitment by the management and staff of ONASA. The Agency has set up good cooperation with partners, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and worldwide. I hope we’ll stay in close contact,” Ambassador Schaller said.
The Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to BiH bespoke the freedom of the media presents a part of freedom of expression and belongs to the basic human and civic rights.
“Pluralistic, free and independent media play an important role in any democracy, whether it is about Switzerland or BiH. By providing a lot of diverse views, the media help citizens to make choice of their political options,” Schaller said.
The Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to BiH took office on 4 October this year. (end)
