WITH ARRIVAL OF STUDENTS AND PROFESSORS FROM ELITE JAPANESE HIGH SCHOOL, IMPLEMENTATION OF STUDY TRAVEL PROJECT OF THIRD HIGH SCHOOL IN SARAJEVO BEGINS

SARAJEVO, JULY 28 (ONASA) – Sarajevo Third High School, in cooperation with the Association of Alumni of this high school, launched a knowledge exchange project and study trips with one of the best high schools in Tokyo, Kaichi Nihonbashi Gakuen (KNG).
After the preparations and the first phase of the project, the second phase of the project started last night, with the arrival of 11 students from Japan to Sarajevo with two of their teachers, who will socialize and learn together with the students from the Third High School in Sarajevo. During the 10-day visit of guests from Japan, the interactive learning program includes numerous workshops, familiarization with the basics of the Bosnian language, visits to companies, institutions and cultural-historical landmarks, and familiarization with the natural beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“There are many things that connect Bosnia and Herzegovina and Japan. Our goal is to get to know each other, exchange knowledge and develop friendship between these young people, in the spirit of developing friendship between two peoples. We plan to hold workshops with institutions such as the Embassy of Japan, the EBRD and many successful BiH companies that have decided to help us and be our partners in this project, all in order to emphasize the importance of active learning, intercultural exchange and diplomacy. Finally, one of these workshops will aim to create a joint project between the two schools. The students will present this project when the Third High School delegation travels to Tokyo in October this year. Our trip to Japan in October of this year is also the third phase of the project”, said the project implementation coordinator and professor at the Sarajevo Third High School, Kerim Hadžić. He emphasized that this is also a signal to our diaspora, and that in the end, identifying members of the diaspora who could influence the development of cooperation between schools from Bosnia and Herzegovina and their schools, wherever they are, would be a great success.
On Friday, students and professors from Japan will first visit the War Childhood Museum, the core of the City of Sarajevo, and the National Museum, where a workshop on the history of Sarajevo will be held. The following is a workshop on building peace through the economy with the Director of the EBRD BiH, Mrs. Manuela Naessl and a representative of the Japanese Embassy in BiH. It is planned to go to Mostar by train Sarajevo – Mostar, one of the most beautiful railways in the world, where, in addition to visits to the sights of Mostar, a workshop in co-organization with AmCham BiH on the topic of entrepreneurship for high school students is planned, as well as a visit to Mako Dizdar’s poetry evenings. Guests from Japan will also visit the new Sarajevo co-working space hubuniporomet, as a place known for the meeting of healthy ideas and numerous benefits for pupils and students, as well as the launch of start-ups. As part of their visit to Vispak from Visoko, guests from Japan will learn how Guinness’s largest jezva in the world was created.
Students and professors will also visit old fortresses from the Middle Ages in Zenica and Travnik.
A tour of the Sarajevo City Hall as well as a meeting and conversation with the Mayor Benjamina Karić-Londrc is planned.
On the other hand, when they go to Japan in October of this year, the students of the Third Gymnasium in Sarajevo will have the opportunity to participate in the Culture Festival of Tokyo High Schools.
They are also scheduled to visit several Japanese companies dealing with advanced technology such as Axel Space. The plan is for all of them to take a short course in Japanese language and Japanese culture.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina is unity in diversity, and its values are what fascinates all those who come, so we can’t wait for the reactions of our guests. The goal is to make this project fully sustainable. This is the fourth phase of the project. Support for this project has already been given by some representatives of the government and BiH companies, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them”, it is stated in the press release of the “Alumni Treća gimnazija Sarajevo” association.
Partners and sponsors who supported the project: Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, Sarajevo International Airport, Telemach, AS Jelah (Vispak, Oaza), TAKO, Ministry of Programming, BHTelecom, TeamAgro, Forster Rohner SA, Bistro Zdravo i hubunipromet, AmCham BiH, Unicredit Bank dd, Institute for Youth Development KULT, NGO&BusinessAudit, City of Sarajevo, FabLab BiH, Derubis Caravans, Hacienda Kolenda, Divan Karupović, Biss Tours, Council of Parents of the Third Gymnasium Sarajevo, Chamber of Commerce KS, Slatko&Slano.
