SARAJEVO, JUNE 19 (ONASA) – The City Council of the City of Sarajevo held its 41st session today, chaired by Jasmin Ademović, the City Council Chairman.
The work of the session, according to the adopted agenda, began with the adoption of the Decision on the selection of members of the Commission, representatives of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, for the consideration, processing and analysis of applications received for the Public Call for awarding high school students who achieved notable results in official competitions in certain teaching subjects in the previous 2023/2024. school year from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for 2024.
With the adoption of this decision, the conditions are created for the announcement of a public call, in September, through which successful high school students in Sarajevo will be able to present their results and be adequately rewarded for them, in accordance with city regulations.
The Decision on Accepting the Patronage of the 2nd Sarajevo Light Festival was discussed and adopted. This unique cultural and entertainment event last winter in Sarajevo, during its three-month duration, attracted more than 52,000 visitors, both domestic and foreign tourists of all generations. The intention is that again this year, the 2nd Sarajevo Light Festival will be an event that will significantly enrich Sarajevo’s cultural, entertainment and tourist offer in the winter period, and which will affirm Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rich natural and cultural-historical heritage. The Sarajevo Light Festival is unique in its combination of commercial lighting with artists’ works, in its duration, but also in its intention to go beyond the museum and “illuminate all of Sarajevo” in the future.
The city councilors unanimously adopted the Decision on giving consent to the Mayor of the City of Sarajevo to sign a Memorandum of Friendship between the City of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Municipality of Kotor, Montenegro, which deepens the previously established cooperation between these two cities.
Furthermore, the City Council decided to implement two new projects. With the adoption of the Decision on giving consent to the mayor of the City of Sarajevo to start the process of purchasing (buying) a locomotive for the needs of additional decoration of the Bistrica station, the display of this museum will be supplemented with this important outdoor exhibit. By adopting the Decision on giving consent for the reconstruction of the fence of the “Mašnica” kindergarten, the City of Sarajevo is helping to organize another kindergarten in the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.
In the continuation of the session, the City Council unanimously adopted the Report on the Implementation of the Decision on Scholarships for High School Students from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo, according to the Competition for Scholarships for High School Students from the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for the 2023/2024 school year.
At today’s session, the Report on the implementation of the Program for the celebration of April 6 – Day of the City of Sarajevo in 2024 was also adopted, which the mayor also submits to the City Council every year.
Then the Information on the realization of the construction project of the Vidikovac facility on Trebević was received, in which the City Council was presented with all the steps that, according to the conclusions of the City Council, were taken by the Attorney General of the City of Sarajevo, i.e. JP Sarajevo Ltd. Based on the new information that the City Council was informed by the City Council at today’s session, it was pointed out that more intensive activities are expected with the aim of completing this building and putting it into proper use.
The Chairman of the City Council, Jasmin Ademović, in his capacity as a city councilor, submitted an initiative, and the City Council unanimously supported it, for the City of Sarajevo to join the “Student Card” project so that students can ride the cable car and visit the facilities of the University of Sarajevo Museums with a 50% discount, as well as use of the Otoka Olympic pool for students who are registered competitors in swimming sports.
City councilor Adi Škaljić presented the initiative that the City of Sarajevo, with budget funds, supports the realization of the project of revitalization of the botanical garden of the National Museum in Sarajevo, as well as the project of renovation of the exterior of the History Museum.
After the session, on the occasion of the World Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a voluntary blood donation campaign was organized in the City Hall for city councilors and employees of the City of Sarajevo. (end)
