BEIJING, OCTOBER 18 ( ONASA ) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) and chairman of the Friendship Group for Asia of the PSBiH Marinko Čavara attended today in Beijing, together with the highest officials from more than 130 countries and 30 international organizations, the opening Third forum for international cooperation “Belt and Road”.
This large meeting, which marks the 10th anniversary of China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, was opened by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, who emphasized that more than 150 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America have joined this initiative with the aim interconnection, smooth economic and trade cooperation, financial integration and strengthening of ties between states and people. According to President Jinping, the “Belt and Road” initiative, which he proposed a decade ago, injected new momentum into the world economy and economy and opened new paths for global development. Estimating that the initiative had enormous success and results, as well as that it lifted more than 40 million inhabitants of the planet out of poverty, President Jinping announced that China will continue to strengthen the construction of multilateral cooperation platforms with countries participating in the “Belt and Road” initiative in in the areas of energy, taxation, finance, green development, as well as in the areas of natural disaster prevention, fight against corruption, think tanks, media, culture and education. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message to the participants of the forum to bravely bear the historical burden of the times we live in, promote modernization, economic development and cooperation, and to build a world that is open, inclusive and interconnected.
In his address to the participants of the Forum, as part of the thematic panel “Connecting peoples – connections between people”, Chairman Čavara assessed that the “Belt and Road” initiative of President Xi Jinping created a solid foundation for the cooperation of countries, peoples and people on partnership relations and became a platform for the preservation of peace, and the strengthening of well-being, solidarity and cooperation of nations and people in order to create a common future.
Calling on everyone in the international community to act on the principles of true multilateralism and support the international system with the United Nations at its core, Chairman Čavara said that at this moment, when the world is facing crises that chaotically threaten peace and stability, we must respect the diversity of civilizations, to adhere to equality, mutual learning, dialogue and tolerance, and to advocate and transmit the common values of all humanity.
Thanking the People’s Republic of China for its friendly relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the constant improvement of cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, health, agriculture and other areas, Chairman Čavara said that it is important in the foreign policy interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue to improve bilateral political, economic and all other relations with the People’s Republic of China.
In his speech before a number of high-ranking officials, including Vice President of the Chinese People’s Congress Li Hongzhong and Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao, Chairman Čavara assessed that the official positions of BiH fully correspond with the positions of the People’s Republic of China, which implies respect for independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH and one China, ensuring equal rights for all peoples in BiH, as well as that the efforts that the international community invests in BiH must be in the function of a peaceful, just and rational solution for all peoples in BiH.
In addition to Chairman Čavara, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Group for Asia PSBiH Albin Muslić, and members of the Friendship Group Aida Baručija, Branislav Borenović, Šemsudin Mehmedović and Safet Softić also traveled to China.
