SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 13 (ONASA) – Members of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PSSE) in Strasbourg, consisting of Sabina Ćudić, Saša Magazinović, Darijana Filipović, Mia Karamehić Abazović, Mladen Bosić and Miroslav Vujičić , through joint diplomatic activities, they secured the support of more than 50 deputies in the state parliaments of the European Union (EU) member states and the region for the accelerated opening of EU negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This support was confirmed by the parliamentarians of the EU countries with their signatures, thus highlighting their unequivocal position on the need to speed up BiH’s European path.
The signatories of the initiative, deputies in the parliaments of Germany, Austria, France, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Portugal, Hungary and Greece, in their support for the opening of negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina state that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s determination to adopt the law from 14 priorities from the opinion of the European Commission is the basis for accelerating the European path.
“We firmly believe that the opening of negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina would represent a clear signal of encouragement and support for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such a decision, at this crucial moment, also contributes to peace and security in the region, as well as peace, stability and security in the whole of Europe”, states the document, which was signed by more than 40 deputies from EU member states at the initiative of all members of the PSBiH Delegation. .
Undisputed support for the initiative of PSBiH deputies also came from colleagues from the countries of our region, North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania, but also from representatives of numerous other countries such as Great Britain, Ukraine, Turkey, Moldova and Switzerland.
“We can be satisfied with the understanding we encountered in the meetings with colleagues from the parliaments of the EU member states, who collectively represent the majority opinion of EU citizens. It is especially important that the deputies from the EU countries recognized the mutual interest of the EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to the European path of our country, believing that a stable Europe requires a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the entire region of the Western Balkans. Now it is important that the governments of the EU countries recognize what their legislative authorities have recognized, which is that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a place in the EU”, is the common position of the PSBiH delegation members in PSSE.
