SDA: SCHMIDT CANNOT EXECUTE HIS MANDATE IN JUST ONE ENTITY

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 13 (ONASA) – The Democratic Action Party (SDA) believes that the new withdrawal of the high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, in the face of Milorad Dodik’s open and brazen attacks on the constitutional order and the de facto ban on his activities in the RS entity, Bosnia and Herzegovina, leads to an ever deeper crisis that can escalate at any moment, threatening stability and peace.
They assess that attacks on the constitutional order, the Constitutional Court, daily threats of secession, the blockade of the inter-entity line, frequent systematic attacks on Bosniak returnees, new announcements of the withdrawal of Serbian personnel from state institutions, daily insults and humiliation of political opponents, high representatives, ambassadors, journalists, disparagement and the denial of the Bosniak people, the denial of the genocide, only part of the overall atmosphere produced by the government in the RS entity, acting in accordance with the guidelines of the SANU II Memorandum and the SNSD Declaration from 2015, all with the ultimate goal of seceding part of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Whether and how the high representative, as well as the ambassadors of Western countries, will react to the humiliations and insults that Dodik throws at them every day is a matter of their personal choice. But what is not a matter of choice is the fulfillment of their obligations arising from the Dayton Peace Agreement”, said the SDA.
They emphasized that the High Representative and the OHR are part of the Dayton Peace Agreement and that they cannot exercise their mandate in just one entity, as Christian Schmidt does.
“Also, ambassadors who significantly influence the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as their countries, would have to fulfill the obligations they assumed as guarantors of the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. If they do not fulfill these obligations, and if the high representative abandons the obligation to carry out his mandate on the territory of the entire country, then the Dayton Peace Agreement is called into question, with all the consequences that will result from it”, the SDA points out.
They believe that the state of the most dangerous post-Dayton crisis that we are entering was produced by the indecisive and calculating attitude of representatives of the international community and the domestic judiciary, who for years avoided confronting the growing audacity of Milorad Dodik in his attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Constitution and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina. .
The SDA says that BiH is at a historical crossroads where such a relationship must be changed and that it must be clear to everyone that BiH patriots will not allow anyone to destroy their country peacefully.
“The Trojka, which for the sake of its own seats, lied to both itself and the people that Dodik had changed, and which does not give up its servile attitude towards his side, leaving important levers of the state to him and thereby strengthening the mechanisms of his secessionist policy, must also change its relationship. It is high time that they stop with this attitude towards Dodik, but also with their silence on the lack of reaction of representatives of the international community, because this gives them an alibi for inaction. No one’s chair should be more important than the state,” the SDA announced.
