SARAJEVO, APRIL 22 (ONASA) – On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, which is marked on the second day of Eid al-Fitr, a central ceremony and an appropriate religious program were organized today at the Kovači Martyrs’ Cemetery in Sarajevo, reports MINA.
The commemoration of Martyrs’ Day was attended by reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community (IZ) in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein-ef. Kavazović, military mufti Hadis-ef. Pašalić, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović, families of martyrs, representatives of veterans’ organizations and numerous other delegations.
“Today we are in Kovači among the white targets, among the martyrs of our city and homeland. We have not forgotten them and we will not forget them. The Qur’an says that they are alive, joyful and well provided for by their Lord. Whenever we come here, we feel their presence. “Today is their day, the day we set for Eid to remember them and visit them, to include them in our Eid joy, to be with us directly like this, otherwise they are here every day among us,” said Reisul-ulema Kavazović.
He added that there is a share of martyrs in each of our days, because “if they weren’t there, things would be completely different and we might not be standing here today”.
“Thank you dear martyrs and may Allah grant you more blessings. Today we have come to mourn you mahsuz and express our deep respect for you, and for your sacrifice. We will recite Yasini-sherif for you to make it even more comfortable for you. The Qur’an is the speech of the Almighty Creator, and not only is it full of wisdom in instructions, but it also refreshes human souls and brings life to them, pampering them. Its influence on the living is enormous, it also includes the martyrs, because they are always alive, and it is also beneficial for the dead,” said the reisul-ulema.
Addressing those present at the Kovači martyr’s cemetery, the reisul-ulema emphasized that we will not give up the values that the martyrs fought for.
“In the company of these great men of ours, we want to once again express our determination that we will not betray the principles for which the martyrs sacrificed their lives. We will fight, be steadfast and determined, and God willing, win. We will win if we are honest in our fight and if we fight properly. That struggle must always include all people, and I want to emphasize that here,” Reisul-ulema emphasized.
He reminded that Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is a mercy for everyone, stressing that we must also take care of others, regardless of their affiliation, “struggle so that they too will be well in this country as well as us, so that they are not deprived of anything “.
“In order to achieve this, we must unite our forces and act unitedly. We must be involved, contribute. In many places, the Qur’an calls us to fight in His way with our possessions and effort, not to remain on the sidelines, not to be left out of the fight. If we respond to the Qur’an, we will have Allah’s support and be respected. If we turn a deaf ear, we will be humiliated and despised. I invite everyone who hears me to revive this spirit in themselves and go in this direction, to leave empty talk and arguments, not to waste their time on unimportant matters. Only in this way will our struggle be crowned with success, and we will be able to live in dignity and honor,” the reisul-ulema said, among other things.
He assessed that it is a difficult path, full of challenges, which leads to magnificent results.
“That’s why we all go on that path,” concluded the reisul-ulema.
Presidency member Bećirović said in a statement to journalists that today’s gathering, in large numbers, is an expression of deep human respect for the martyrs.
“Thanks to the martyrs and fallen fighters of the RBiH Army, we have freedom, we have defended the honor of our homeland and we have a future,” said Bećirović.
By the decision of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 23, 1995, the second day of Ramadan Bajram was declared Martyrs’ Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a day of remembrance for all those who gave their lives defending their family, honor, homeland and religion.
This day is marked by a tour of the martyrs’ cemeteries, visits to the martyrs’ families, prayers for all the martyrs and a reminder of their sacrifice. (end)
