MOSTAR: UABNOR ASKING FOR INFORMATION ON RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION OF DEVASTATION OF PARTISAN CEMETERY

MOSTAR, APRIL 14 (ONASA) – Ten months have passed since the terrorist attack on the National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar, and there are still no results of the investigation.
– There are no perpetrators yet. We are not and cannot be satisfied with the announcement that the investigation is ongoing and that the prosecution has filed a case. This leads us to suspect that in the case of a terrorist act at the Partisan Memorial Cemetery, there are political obstructions, so the investigation is deliberately stalling, as in the previous thirty years – UABNOR Mostar announced today.
This Association insists that the public be regularly informed of the results of the investigation, because, as they point out, the state of silence brings unrest and creates an atmosphere of insecurity in the city of Mostar, especially since other incidents have occurred in the meantime that disrupt relations in the city.
– In short, we insist on urgently informing the public about the course and results of the investigation. For the umpteenth time, we remind you that a few days after the destruction of this pearl of architectural heritage, Mr. Slađan Bevanda, minister in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Croatian People’s Republic of Croatia, made a statement. On that occasion, he said: “MUP reacts in the right way every time and finds the perpetrators, and it is up to others to process it”. Then he repeated: “We always find the perpetrators and bring them to justice”, and added: “MUP HNK does its job honorably and honestly”.
If the minister was telling the truth, we insist that he inform the public URGENTLY about all the results of the investigation. Otherwise, he becomes an accomplice, because ten months of silence is too much – they say from UABNOR Mostar.
If, in addition to all this, as they add further in the announcement, we add the fact that yesterday, the day before ten months will pass since the last destruction of this monument, it was announced that the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar was included among the seven most endangered heritage sites in Europe in 2023, and then it is clear that Europe, as well as the whole world, is familiar with this shame of Mostar, but also of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
