BEGINNING OF OPERATION OF NEW SYSTEM FOR CROSS-BORDER CONTROL OF GOODS IN FBIH

SARAJEVO, MAY 24 (ONASA) – From mid-May 2023, with the support of USAID, border inspectors of the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs, as well as business entities (importers and freight forwarding companies) that carry out cross-border traffic of goods, will start using the new modern system for cross-border control of goods (BIMS) in everyday business.
The most important functionalities of the new system will enable: more precise management of the announced requests of importers and forwarding companies, standardization and automation of data entry from requests, automation of the calculation of fees paid by supervisory subjects, complete administration of individual requests, with simpler monitoring of the status of items, advanced statistical and analytical reporting options, increased level of information (data) exchange with other government bodies and institutions and improvement of system and data security.
New digital solutions will significantly improve and facilitate the work of federal border inspectors, who are making a huge effort to ensure that controls in the cross-border movement of goods in BiH are efficient and in accordance with the law. This additionally contributes to faster, more transparent, safer and more favorable provision of services to business entities.
USAID’s “E-government” Project continues its successful cooperation with the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs, and the development of a new inspection management system (E-inspector) is expected this year.
The system for cross-border control of goods (Border Inspections Management System – BIMS 1) was established in 2017 in the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs. Outdated software and overloading of the system caused delays that affected the speed and efficiency of the cross-border goods control procedure, and in the course of use there were also requests to expand the functionality, both for the benefit of inspectors and importers and forwarding companies that use the services of border inspections on a daily basis.
