SARAJEVO, AUGUST 8 (ONASA) – President of the Party of Democratic Action of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic, member of the Presidency of BiH Sefik Dzaferovic, delegation of the SDA Youth Association, as well as other SDA officials laid flowers at the Kovaci Martyrs’ Cemetery today on the birthday of RBiH Presidency President Alija Izetbegovic.
– Today is the 96th anniversary of the birth of Alija Izetbegović and he certainly does not need such gatherings, and I think we certainly need that. Alija’s definition that BiH is not just a piece of land in the Balkans, but the idea that different people, religions and nations can live together, is true because no one forced us 200, 300, 400 years ago to worship there, helping each other. Alija fought for the position of Bosniaks in that way, Bakir Izetbegović told reporters.
“When someone declares for Bosniaks that they are a submissive and cowardly people who have checked or changed their religion, then we can remember that time symbolized by the late Alija Izetbegović when hundreds of thousands of people fought for freedom, for dignity, for their country, for his faith.”, said Bakir Izetbegović and added that “the game of nerves must be won”.
“We can no longer allow genocide to be denied in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to celebrate war criminals, but at the same time we must calm the passions.”, he said.
When asked whether there will be a meeting between Milorad Dodik and the new High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt, and the outcome of the situation, Izetbegović thinks he will.
“Dodik starts with such harsh words, and then retaliates. I think that in BiH, as after a big earthquake, small earthquakes will happen and that we will create a normal country here. I don’t know if Milorad Dodik will take part in that, I think he exceeded the measure. If he returns to the positions from 10, 15 years ago, he could also be one of those who will create a society where the youth does not leave, where pensioners are not afraid of the future and low pensions. We could have been that a long time ago if it weren’t for this irresponsible policy that came from Milorad Dodik.”, stated Izetbegović.
BiH Presidency Member Sefik Dzaferovic pointed out that Alija is the most important person in the modern history of BiH.
– He was at the head of BiH when it achieved its independence. These are epochal achievements. We will always be grateful to Alija for everything he has done for BiH. We will use every opportunity to remember and pay our respects. – said Dzaferovic.
He says that the wisdom, tolerance and understanding of Alija Izetbegović related to all social processes are something that Bosnia and Herzegovina desperately needs. (end)
